Beyond the color purple?
My first attempt at combining my two loves of quilting and embroidery. It's a Jenny Haskins quilt featured in Creative Expressions magazine. Designs are from her disc Beyond the Color Purple. Click the picture. for a closer view
My name is Karen. I started sewing as a young girl, taught by my mother. I've quilted for about 26 years--machine piecing and hand quilting. In recent years I've been machine quilting. I love using a long-arm machine. I also enjoy machine embroidery and like to join that with my love of quilting. My passion is heirloom sewing. I love the delicate fabrics with pintucks, laces, and entredeux. I've taken numerous Martha Pullen heirloom sewing classes and attended her School of Art Fashion in Feb 2009.
I sew on a Bernina Artista 730. I also own a Bernina Artista 165 and my first Bernina, a 930, purchased 23 years ago. It is a workhorse!
The name of my blog comes from a song titled The Pieces Fit by Pearl Barrett, Jeanette Herdman, and Charlie Barret of Considering Lily. "His grace for my shame, His death for my blame, His stripes for my pain and the pieces fit. His joy for my grief, His hurt my relief, my doubt His belief and the pieces fit." There's no other way I can be whole but through Jesus.
I sew for others, so if you see something you'd like, e-mail me. My work is individualized so you can get close to what you want. Thanks for stopping and visiting.
